The Apex Legends Preseason Invitational live from Krakow, Poland has just finished with Day 1 being filled with action-packed gameplay and surprise advancements. Many big-name teams going into the tournament were expected to be on top with organizations like TSM, NRG, G2 and Misfits to name a few. We also saw a few underdogs make statements such as Virtus.Pro, k1ck esports club and SpaceStation Gaming. Day 1 from the tournament was anything but lackluster and with 80 highly competitive teams gameplay it was who’s who of competition.



Let’s take a look at the format for the tournament



Point Distribution

  • Eliminations will provide 1 Point.
  • Placement points are distributed as the following per round
  1. 1st place – 12 Points.
  2. 2nd place – 9 Points.
  3. 3rd place – 7 Points.
  4. 4th place – 5 Points.
  5. 5th place – 4 Points.
  6. 6th – 10th place – 2 Points.
  7. 11th – 15th place – 1 Points.
  8. 16th – 20th place – 0 Points.

Brackets

This Tournament uses a double-elimination format with a Winners Bracket and a Losers Bracket

  • All Teams will be initially placed in the Winners Bracket Round 1.
  • The Winners Bracket consists of 3 rounds. Each round consists of a set number of matchups (“Match”) between the Teams in a Group.
  • The 10 Teams with the round’s highest Series Scores in each Group at the conclusion of each round advance to the next round in the Winners Bracket or the Tournament Finals.
  • The remaining Teams (max: 10) fall to the corresponding Losers Bracket as described in the Sections devoted to each Round below.
  • In the event of a tie in Series Score between 2 or more teams, the following tiebreaker methods, in order, will be used
    • Highest Total points in a single match
    • Best placement in a single match
    • Highest kills in a single match
    • Total damage dealt in the round

Prize Pool

$500,000 USD are spread among the teams and players as seen below:


  • 1st Place – $105,000
  • 2nd Place – $75,000
  • 3rd Place – $60,000
  • Apex Predator (Most Eliminations) – $8,000

The remaining amounts will be awarded to teams who placed from 4th place ($48,000) all the way to 20th place ($4,800).

All teams did tremendously well for the Preseason Invitational and many teams stood out in their respective brackets. TSM crushed it in Round 2 in the first two matchups but was upset by Spacestation Gaming only for them to be upset by VP in the end.

Many teams still are going to battle it out the next coming days for the tops prizes with the Loser’s Brackets set for September 14th with the Winners Final also taking place as the last event for the day. Who will be on top of King’s Canyon and crowned the Apex Champion?
