Watching your favorite teams battle it out on stage is something fans love doing. Whether it is for physical sports like football, both versions of the game, or in esports. Many fans head to these events to witness history in the making for their favorite competitive game. However, the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has made an impact on large events for the safety of players and fans alike. EA has announced that the Apex Legends Global Series has been postponed due to the coronavirus.

In the official release made by EA, a few events had been postponed. This includes the Apex Legends and FIFA 20 Global Series. EA is not the first company to postpone a major event due to the recent outbreak of the coronavirus. The LCK for League of Legends and Twitchcon Amerstadam have both been postponed recently as well.

In the official release, this is what EA had to say about the events being postponed. “These events are being cancelled or postponed due to the current situation with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact, not just on the gaming industry but the entire world. We will continue to monitor the situation around the Coronavirus, including guidance from the CDC and WHO, and will evaluate and provide more updates as it relates to all of EA’s Competitive Gaming Events.”

So for the time being events that are not online tournaments will be cancelled until further notice.
