The day has finally come when Season 4: Assimilation for Apex Legends has launched. Not only does this mark the one year anniversary of the game but some significant changes we’ve come to expect with a new season. Respawn has released a new trailer for the occasion. We also are given the Patch Notes 4.0 for this season. Let’s take a look.

Let us go ahead and start by recapping what we already know.

Battle Pass

We are getting new cosmetics for legends and weapons as seen in the gameplay trailer. More of those skins are shown in the trailer above as well. Map changes to Capitol City, new camps and a planet harvester were also added. We also are given a new sniper known as the Sentinel (more details on snipers later). Weapon racks have been added into the camps on the map. Ranked got a few changes as well as Anniversary login rewards. Lastly, the biggest addition is Revenant being the newest legend to the Apex Games.

We got to see a look at Revenant’s abilities during the trailer but his official abilities are now known.

STALKER – You crouch walk faster and can climb higher up walls.
SILENCE – Throw a device that deals with damage and disables enemy abilities for 10 seconds.
DEATH TOTEM – Drop a totem that protects users from death. Instead of getting killed or downed, you will return to the totem [with X health]
    Revenant takes +5% damage.

Now onto some of the bigger changes made to Legends & Weapons.

Weapons & Loot

Snipers will now have their own ammo class. They will use a special type of ammo and only 10 shots can be picked up at once. The Sentinel also includes a new feature. If a player presses the “fire select” with a shield battery equipped, the Sentinel will consume the shield battery from your inventory and temporarily enters an energized state. The changes to sniper ammo will also mean the Chare Rifle will only hold 4 shots at once and consume one shot per use. The G7 Scout has been removed from the Sniper class and added to Assualt Rifles.

The L-Star has also been removed as a crate weapon & added to the normal loot pool and will use energy ammo. The Devotion will take its place as a crate weapon. Energy ammo has been increased to 30 instead of 20 and the Turbocharger has been removed from the game.

The G7 Scout, L-Star, Devotion, Havoc, R-99, Prowler, Hemlock, Wingman, EVA-8 & Mastiff have all received balances (nerfs and/or buffs).

Updates to Ironsights Accuracy have also been worked on for the following weapons: Longbow DMR, TripleTake, Charge Rifle, Sentinel Sniper Rifle, Havoc, R-301, Flatline, Spitfire LMG, R-99, Alternator, Mozambique, Mastiff, RE-45 & Wingman.

– Downing (not killing) players adds 5 seconds to Beast of the Hunt timer. It is possible to exceed starting time with successive kills.

– EMP no longer destroys friendly Gibraltar Dome Shields.
– Dome Shields no longer can stick to Crypto’s Drone.
