The Worlds Group Stage was just announced and drawn, with a variety of interesting groups. Let’s give the run down with the teams.
In the first Group, so far we have G2 Esports, Cloud9, and Griffin. These three teams already are going to be an interesting group, with every team playing their hardest. However, when it comes to consistency, Cloud9 has been arguably the most consistent team in the group stage. At MSI, G2 Esports struggled, and barely pulled ahead. Griffin’s performance during the Summer Split haven’t been ideal either, so it just boils down to see which team can pull ahead. However, it is important to note that most of the players on both G2 and Griffin are extremely strong with their players. In the mid lane, it’ll be a battle between Nisqy, Chovy, and Caps. Not only will there be a battle in the mid lane, but also a battle in the jungle, as Svenskeren, Tarzan, and Jankos have to share the jungle together.
This group is the least talked about, mainly because there’s an equal footing between FunPlus Phoenix, J Team, and GAM Esports. FunPlus Phoenix seems to be the team that is probably favored against the others, in all honesty. Clutch Gaming, DAMWON Gaming, or Splyce would love a chance to play in this group. This would ensure their success into out of groups. Especially CG, as they will be rebranding themselves as renewed Dignitas next split.
This group has been deemed as the infamous Group of Death. So far, this group includes Fnatic, SK Telecom-1, and Royal Never Give Up. These three teams will be fighting tooth and nail to make it out of groups. The mid lane in this group is between Nemesis, Xiahou, and the Unkillable Demon King Faker himself. This seems to be no clear favorites, but it wouldn’t be out of the question for SKT and RNG to make it out of groups. One thing is for sure, the play in teams definitely do not want to be drafted into this group.
This group is arguably the easiest, as it consists of Team Liquid, ahq e-Sports Club, and Invictus Gaming. It seems as fate has brought Team Liquid and Invictus Gaming back again for another rematch. It’ll definitely be interesting to see which team comes on top, as Liquid have proven themselves to be a worthy team. Invictus have a lot riding for them as well, seeing that they are the defending World champions. That, on top of this rematch, would make for an epic comeback that could be in their favor. However, it won’t stop Team Liquid to take to social media and joke around.
this group is so free lmao

In short, it’s the people watching this group stage that will be the true winners. Many people will keep their eyes on Group A and C, as they seem to have the most competitive set of teams. Note that this is just the groups that were drawn and there is still one more team that needs to be added via the play in stage for each group. Who do you think will make it out of groups?
